رؤى المؤلف في هذا الكتاب نحو خمسة وسبعين حديثا" بأسانيده إليها وقد تتعدد للحديث الواحد، ثم يشرحها على مطالع بحسب المعنى إن طالت، وليس منهجه في هذا الكتاب أن ينسب الشرح إلى العلماء بل يسوقها مباشرة ويشرحها بغيرها من الأحاديث، وقد يورد أحياناً لطائف وإشارات لمشربه في التصوف إذ هو مصنف "التعرف لمذهب التصوف" وقد خرجت أحاديثه في الهامش إتماماً للفائدة.
