تنبع فائدة كتابنا هذا من طبيعة مادته، وقد "اهتم الفقهاء بالقواعد الفقهية لما فيها من سهولة العلم والإحاطة بأحكام الفروع دون حفظها، والإلمام بمدلولاتها دون جمعها، ولما يترتب عليها من انتظام الكليات للجزئيات، ولولا القواعد الفقهية لكانت الأحكام الفقهية فروعاً متناثرة تتناقض في ظواهرها، وإن اتفقت في مدلول بواطنها".
وفائدة كتابنا هذا جليلة، فما حواه من القواعد كثيرة العدد، عظيمة المدد، وكاد أن يستوعب مسائل الفقه جميعاً في تخريجها عليها، فيحصل الناظر فيه تفصيلاً بديعاً للمسائل مع ذكر قواعدها "وبقدر الإحاطة بها يعظم قدر الفقيه ويظهر رونق الفقه ويعرف، وتتضح مناهج الفتوى وتكشف"، وتظهر قيمة هذا الكتاب من اعتماد كثير من العلماء المحققين لمنقولاته، فكتاب "الإنصاف" - مثلاً - للمردواي مستودع لكتاب "القواعد"، وذكر المرداوي في "مقدمته" (1/17) عند ذكر الاختلاف بين الأصحاب في مسائل متجاذبة المآخذ، قال: "فالاعتماد في معرفة المذهب من ذلك على ما قاله المصنف، والمجلد، والشارح، وصاحب الفروع، والقواعد الفقهية، والوجيز...".
