يبدو لي أن الكتاب يمثلون سلالات كأنواع البذور والنطف، سواء جرى ذلك بانتباههم أو بدونه، ويبدو لي مثلًا ان "نيكوس كازنتزاكيس" هو المريد النابه لـ دوستويفسكي حتى لو ناح هنري مللر وأظن أن كتاب كازنتزاكيس الصغير "تصوف" هو بمثابة خطابه "البوشكيني" لكأنه كان بذلك الكتاب يتراس مع دوستويفسكي بخطابه في تأبين بوشكين وفيرجينيا وولف، فيرجينيا ليزلي ستيفن ولدت حين كان "رامبو"، جان ارتور رامبو قد عمر وصار مسنًا في الثامنة والعشرين. ويبدو لي كأن رأيت الطفلة تسترق السمع إلى شاعرًا بدا صموتًا. "لم يصمت" لطالما قالت فيرجينيا الصغيرة ذلك عن رامبو لمربيتها حسبما أظن. وفي التاسعة من عمرها، أحسبها قد همست: "مات، اليوم، مات" ومبكرًا في سنتها التاسعة تلك حاضت الصغيرة فيرجينيا لكانها كانت تعمد نفسها بدم من لدنها.
