ابن عباس (3 ق هـ - 68 هـ = 619 - 687 م)
عبد الله بن عباس بن عبد المطلب القرشي الهاشمي، أبو العباس: حبر الأمة، الصحابي الجليل.
ولد بمكة، ونشأ في بدء عصر النبوة، فلازم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وروى عنه الأحاديث الصحيحة.
وشهد مع علي الجمل وصفين.
وكف بصره في آخر عمره، فسكن الطائف، وتوفي بها.
له في الصحيحين وغيرهما 1660 حديثا.
قال ابن مسعود: نعم، ترجمان عباس.
وقال عمرو بن دينار: ما رأيت مجلسا كان أجمع لكل خير من مجلس ابن عباس، الحلال والحرام والعربية والأنساب والشعر.
وقال عطاء: كان ناس يأتون ابن عباس في الشعر والأنساب، وناس يأتونه لأيام العرب ووقائعهم، وناس يأتونه للفقه والعلم، فما منهم صنف إلا يقبل عليهم بما يشاؤون.
وكان كثيرا ما يجعل أيامه يوما للفقه، ويوما للتأويل، ويوما للمغازي، ويوما للشعر، ويوما لوقائع العرب.
وكان عمر إذا أعضلت عليه قضية دعا ابن عباس وقال له: أنت لها ولأمثالها، ثم يأخذ بقوله ولا يدعو لذلك أحدا سواه.
وكان آية في الحفظ، أنشده ابن أبي ربيعة قصيدته التي مطلعها: «أمن آل نعم أنت غاد فمبكر» فحفظها في مرة واحدة، وهي ثمانون بيتا، وكان إذا سمع النوادب سد أذنيه بأصابعه، مخافة أن يحفظ أقوالهن.
ولحسان بن ثابت شعر في وصفه وذكر فضائله.
وينسب إليه كتاب في «تفسير القرآن - ط» جمعه بعض أهل العلم من مرويات المفسرين عنه في كل آية فجاء تفسيرا حسنا.

يعتبر هذا الكتاب من كتب التفسير بالمأثور لأنه جاء عن أحد الصحابة وهذا الكتاب ليس من وضع ابن عباس إنما هو من وضع أبي طاهر محمد بن يعقوب الفيروزابادي الشافعي الذي نقله بالسند عن ابن عباس في تفسيره للقرآن الكريم، وهذا التفسير جاء خاليا من اللغويات، ولكن ذكر فيه بعض أوجه القراءات وأسباب النزول، ولكن الغالب على الكتاب أنه تفسير للآيات ومفرداتها فحسب.
