لقد نزل القرآن الكريم بألفاظ العرب ومعانيها ومذاهبها في الإيجاز والإختصار والإطالة والتوكيد والحقيقة والمجاز، وإغماض بعض المعاني وإظهار بعضها، إلى ما هنالك مما عرف من مذاهب العرب في الكلام، وبمجرد أن يتذوق المرء طرق العرب في البيان ينجلي في ذهنه كثير من المعاني فإذا عرف سبب نزول الآيات إزداد معرفة وفهماً.
وقد كان في رسالات الأنبياء من المعاني الدقيقة العالية ما تضيق عنه قوالب ظواهر الألفاظ فجاء التعبير عن هذه المعاني بالمجاز أو الكناية أو بأية صورة أو عبارة ليست في متناول فهم كل مخاطب، ولهذا كان على من يتعرض لتفسير القرآن الكريم أن يكون على جانب كبير من الفهم للغة العربية وأساليبها في البيان، بالإضافة إلى تمكنه من علوم أخرى تتصل بالتربية العقلية الإسلامية التي بها يمكن تذوق بيانه وفهم أحكامه وإدراك مراميه، ثم ينبغي للمفسر أن يخلع عنه التقليد ويتجه إلى تذوق آيات الله تعالى بإخلاص وتجرد، وبتوفيق من الله تعالى وتسديد يكون التوفيق للصواب.
ولهذا، فإن التفسير من كل أحد ليس بالضرورة هو مراد الله تبارك وتعالى، بل قد يتوافق المفسر للصوات وقد بجانبه أحياناً، ولا يجوز أن ينسحب خطؤه على كتاب الله تعالى وآياته، بل لا بد للأمة أن تتجاوز ما عرف من قصوره بالنظر والمعلم وتقدم المعارف.
ويبقى في تاريخنا أعلام وفقهم الله تعالى وحباهم من المعرفة الدقيقة بالغة والذوق السليم، والإحاطة بالتفسير المأثور ومعرفة أسباب النزول، ومن الأدب والفهم، ما يجعلهم على جانب الحذر من المزالق، يقضون عند مبلغهم من العلم فلا يحمّلون آيات الله تعالى ما لا تحمل، ولا ينجرفون وراء الإسرائيليات أو الأهواء أو الآراء الشخصية بلا دليل.
