Despite the fact that classical Arab scholars translated Greek and Persian knowledge during the Islamic Golden Age, we have no evidence that they attempted to translate poetry. This could be seen as recognition that the ability to translate poetry. This could be seen as recognition that ability to translate poetry is no mean feat. However, with his acute sensitivity to the subtleties and nuances of both English and Arabic, the Omani poet and translator, Dr. Khalid Al Balushi, has, indeed, accomplished a feat with these remarkable translations.
