قد صنّف الشيخ عثمان بن سند كتاباً عن وزير بغداد في زمنه: داود باشا، سمّاه: "مطالع السُعود بِطيب أخبار الوالي داود"، اشتمل على ترجمته ومسيرة حياته، مع كثيرِ من الأحداث التاريخية والسياسية التي واكبت تلك الفترة في محيط جزيرة العرب والعراق والدولة العثمانية.
ثم قام الشيخ المَدَني: أمين الحلواني بإختصار كتاب ابن سند، مُقتصراً على الأحداث التاريخية، متجنباً الأمور الأدبية التي فرّقها ابنُ سند في كتابه - من شعرٍ أو سجع - وطبع كتابه بخط اليد في الهند (عام 1304هـ).
ثم قام العلاّمة محب الدين الخطيب بطباعة مختَصَر الحلواني في مطبعته السلفية (عام 1372هـ)، مع التقديم له، والتعليق عليه بتعليقات نفيسة، تنمُّ عن سعة إطلاعه، ونباهته.
