وتباين القراءات يوقع النّاقد الحُرَّ في ريب لا يكاد ينفكُّ عنه، فيتحرَّس أشدَّ التَّحرُّس من أحكامها، ويحتاط أشدَّ الاحتياط من الوقوع في أغلالها وسلاسلها؛ ذلك أنَّ وعيه النَّقديّ مركوز فيه الإيمان بأنَّ نصوص الأدباء-على اختلاف أعصرها- دنيويّة التَّجربة، آنيّة الصِّناعة، لا يجول في ذهن منشئها -في أثناء نظمها- غير معنى واحد، كان قد استقاه، وأحاطت به قريحته من عوالم الدُّنيا الحاضرة، وحوادثها الدّائرة، لكنَّ هذا المعنى الأصيل مآله الضَّياع، بعد استقامة القصيدة واستوائها نصًّا مكتملاً؛ فلا سبيل للنّاقد المعاصر إلى تبيُّنه تبيُّنًا دقيقًا، وإن حشد له ما استطاع من أدوات، فضلاً عن أنَّ تبيُّنه يجب أن لا يشغل وعيه النَّقديّ في الأصل؛ وذلك لسببين: أحدهما، أنَّ أسلافنا القدماء من رواة الشِّعر وشرّاح الدَّواوين قد اتَّخذوا من دلالاته الظّاهريّة شغلهم الأساس، فاستقصوها تتبُّعًا، وأوسعوها درسًا وتفصيلاً، حتى بات الخوض فيها معادًا مكرورًا، لا غناء في كثيره، ولا فقر في قليله. والآخر، أنَّ همَّ النّاقد الحديث بات يُغاير نظيره القديم؛ إذ استحدث النُّقّاد وطوَّروا أنظارًا في القراءة تجاوزت طروحاتها أنظار القدماء، وكان من أكثر أقاويلهم شيوعًا، وأشدِّها تأثيرًا، تلك القولة السَّيّارة التي دعت إلى الانكباب- ليلاً ونهارًا- على استنباط الدِّلالات كما ترشح من لغة النُّصوص، وترك الملاحقة السّاذجة لمقصود النّاطق المتوهَّم؛ حتّى ذاع بين جمهور النُّقّاد -جامعيّين وغير جامعيّين- أنَّ اللُّغة بعد تجريدها من محمولاتها الظّاهريّة، وسياقاتها المحيطة، تستقلّ فيها الدَّلالة وتتحرَّر؛ وهذا الاستقلال الدِّلاليّ وضع في أيدي النُّقّاد-المفسِّرين والمؤوِّلين-سلطانًا مبينًا ينفذون به -كما يشاؤون- من سياقات النُّصوص.
