يعاني الشباب اليوم من مشكلات كثيرة. مادية ومعنوية, اقتصادية واجتماعية ولكن أخطر المشكلات بالنسبة لهم تلك التي تساهم في انحرافاتهم وخروجهم على المألوف لدرجة الإدمان, كتعاطي المخدرات والكحول والتدخين. ومشكلات الانحراف الأخرى وما أكثرها. ويمكن الجزم بوجود مشكلتي الكحول والتدخين بشكل واضح حيث يتم تعاطيهما علناً, ومن دون عقاب وإن نسبة المدخنين ومتعاطي مادة الكحول بين الشباب مرتفعة جداً الى حد يثير القلق والتخوف على مستقبلهم وأما المخدرات فقد أخذت تنتشر خفية بشكل فاحش بين كثير من الشباب, وعلى كافة المستويات. ولكن متابعة مثل هذا الموضوع يحتاج الى تضافر الباحثين في مجال التربية وعلم الاجتماع ورجال القانون.. وتظل مشكلة المخدرات هي الأخطر على الشباب لأنها تحطم مقدرتهم على الإنجاز والعطاء والعمل, بسبب تأثيرها القوي على الجهاز العصبي والدماغ وتخلق من الشباب أشخاصاً غير مبالين بشيء ولا يستطيعون مواجهة مشكلاتهم ومشكلات مجتمعهم. والسعي الى مستقبل أفضل. فجاء هذا الكتاب للبحث عن الأضرار المؤكدة الناجمة عن هذه الآفات القاتلة, والجوائح المهلكة, والتي تؤدي بالتالي الى إضعاف روح الشباب من الأمة, والى ارتكاب الجرائم المرتبطة بهذه الموبقات لتدمير صرح الأمة وهلاكها.
