وفي اللحظة الأخيرة قلت لحميد: ليتك تأخذ معك هاتفاً، حميد أتوسّل إليك بالسيدة زينب عليها السلام لا تتركني دون خبر، ومن أيّ مكان استطعت اتصل بيّ!... فقال: كلّما استطعت سأتّصل بك، ولكن هناك شيء إذا اتصلت من سوريا فكيف سأعبّر لك عن مشاعري؟!... هناك سيكون الباقون قربي، وإن سمعوا صوتي سأذوب خجلاً.
تذكّرت مذكّرات الشهداء التي قراتها، كان بعضهم يجعلون رمزاً بينهم وبين زوجاتهم لأوقات كهذه فقلت لحميد: بدلاً من كلمة أنا... قل على الهاتف: تذكّري... وأنا أفهم ما تقصد.
أعجبه إقتراحي، وعندما كان ينزل على الأدراج كان يلوَّح بيده مودعاً ويقول بصوت مرتفع جداً؛ تذكّري... تذكّري... ابتسمت وقلت له: متذكّرة، متذكّرة!...
