هل القدس التي يُزعم أن اسمها ورد في التوراة، هي ذاتها المدينة التي ذكرها كتاب اليهودية المقدس باسم" أورشليم"، وأن الاسمين معاً، يدلّان على مكان واحد بعينه كما تقول الرواية الإسرائيلية المعاصرة؟ ولكن، هل ذكرت التوراة حقاً، بأيّ صيغة من الصيغ المفترضة، اسم "القدس"- بألف ولام التعريف العربية-؟ وهل يتطابق وصف التوراة لها مع وصف أورشليم، وبحيث يجوز لنا مطابقة المكانين وعدّهما مكاناً واحداً؟ ما أريد إثارته في هذه الأطروحة النظرية هو الآتي: إن التوراة لم تذكر اسم فلسطين أو الفلسطينيين قط، وأنها لم تأتِ على ذكر "القدس" بأي صورة من الصور. وكل ما يُقال عن أن المكان الوارد ذكره في التوراة باسم "قدش- قدس" قُصدَ به المدينة العربية، أمر يتنافى مع الحقيقة التاريخية والتوصيف الجغرافي ولا صلة له بالعلم لا من قريب ولا من بعيد. كما أن التوراة لا تقول البتة، أن قدس التي وصلها بنو إسرائيل بعد رحلة التيه هي أورشليم؟ لقد حامت الشُّبهات -بالنسبة لي- حول هذه البديهية الشائعة في المؤلفات التاريخية والسياسية قي العالم كله، منذ أن قمت، وطوال سنوات من العمل الشاق، بإعادة تركيب وبناء الرواية التوراتية عن التاريخ الفلسطيني استناداً إلى النص العبري، حيث تكشفت أمامي حقائق مذهلة غيّبها المخيال الاستشراقي السقيم طوال القرنين الماضيين، وذلك عبر الترويج الزائف لأسطورة أرض الميعاد اليهودي.
