شكلت شخصية العبد الصالح، أو العالم، أو الخضر، ومجمع البحرين، الواردة في سورة الكهف في القرآن الكريم لغزاً مستعصياً عند كثير من علماء المسلمين، وقُدمت فيها تفسيرات مختلفة.
في هذا الكتاب يقدم السيد أحمد الحسن تفسيراً مغايراً لِما ألقته النصوص الواردة في الآية الكريمة حيث يسوق للقارئ الكثير عن حقيقة القصة القرآنية وشخوصها، ومجرياتها وحكمتها بما يقبله العقل ويستريح له القلب على حد سواء.
ويبدأ من رحلة موسى عليه السلام إلى مجمع البحرين فيورد تفسيراً لــ: وإذ قال موسى لفتاة لا أبرج... علماً" إلى آخر ذلك من آيات جاءت في الآية الكريمة وهي "فلما بلغا مجمع بينهما نسيا حوتهما... عجباً" و "فلما بلغا مجمع بينهما نسيا حوتهما... قصصاً"، و "فوجدا عبداً من عبادنا... رشداً"... إلى آخر السورة.
وفي هذا السياق يشرح الكتاب معنى النسيان وسببه، ويجيب عن: ماذا أراد العبد الصالح أن يعلم موسى عليه السلام؟؟ ومن هو العبد الصالح؟ وأين عصمة موسى عليه السلام في هذا اللقاء.
كل ذلك يأتي شرحه وفق آيات بينات وأحاديث شريفة وروايات واردة عن أهل بيت النبوة عليهم السلام، وأمهات الكتب الصحيحة والمسندة، مثل تفسير القمي، والعياشي، وبحار الأنوار وغيرها.
