هذا مكتاب جليل تكلم فيه مصنفه على الألفاظ التي يستعملها الفقاء من الغريب، فهو للحنفية ككتاب الأزهرى للشافعية وهو مختصر لكتابه المعرب، فقد قال فى مقدمته: هذا ما سبق به الوعد من تهذيب مصنفى المترجم بـ "المعرب" وتنميقه وترتيبه على حروف المعج وتلفيقه، اختصرته لأهل المعرفة من ذوي الحمية والأنفة من ارتكاب الكلمة المحرفة. ونبدأ الكتاب بمقدمة فى علم اللغة العربية. وقد قسم كتابه هذا- كما أشار في المقدمة- على حروف المعجم واختصر كثيرا منها فقد نجد بعض الحروف لم يشر إليها ولعل لك وجود أقول غريبة تخدم الفقه فيها أو لقلة هذه الأقوال. فالله أعلم. المحقق "محمد عثمان"
