تلبيةً لنداء هذه الكثرة الكاثرة من المسلمين، وتحقيقاً لطلبتهم، ورغبة في إحياء تاريخ هؤلاء الأعلام الحافل بالمآثر، المليء بالمفاخر، وإعترافاً بما أسدوه إلينا من فضل يشكرون عليهن وجميل يذكرون به ما بقيت آيات القرآن الكريم تتلى، وصوته يسمع، وصداه يملأ آذان المسلمين وقلوبهم، استخرت الله تعالى أن أضع كتاباً وجيزاً يكشف عن تراجم أئمة القراءة الذين تواترت قراءتهم، وهم القراء العشرة الذين طبق صيتهم الخافقين في كل عصر، وفي كل مصر.
وسأترجم للقارئ منهم، ثم أتبعه بترجمة من روى عنه، مقتصراً على ذكر ترجمة راوييه اللذين اشتهرا بنقل قراءته، ثم عنَّ لي - تتميماً للفائدة - أن أترجم للأئمة القراء الأربعة الذين صحت قراءتهم، ولكنها لما لم تبلغ درجة التواتر، حكم عليها بالشذوذ، ذاكراً ترجمة الراويين المشهورين عن كل منهم.
وسميت هذا الكتاب "أحسن الأثر في تاريخ القراء الأربعة عشر"، وأسأل الله جلّ شأنه أن ينفع به القارئ، وأن يرزقنا حسن الإقتداء بأسلافنا الصالحين.
وقد اعتمدت في جمع هذا الكتاب على المصادر الآتية: 1-"غاية النهاية في طبقات القراء" للإمام المحقق العلاّمة ابن الجزري، وهو أعظم المصادر وأهمها"، 2-"إتحاف فضلاء البشر في قراءات الأئمة الأربعة عشر" للشيخ أحمد البنا الدمياطي"، 3-"شرح طيبة للنشر" للعلامة الشيخ النويري، 4-"شرح طيبة للنشر" للأستاذ الشيخ أحمد بن الجزري ابن الناظم"، 5-"شرح الشاطبية" للإمام عبد الرحمن الدمشقي، المعروف بأبي شامة"، 6-"شرح الشاطبية" للأستاذ الفاضل الشيخ محمد بن أحمد الموصلي، المعروف بشعلة"، 7-"شرح الشاطبية" للشيخ علي بن عثمان، المعروف بابن القاصح"، 8-"شرح الشاطبية" للشيخ علي بن محمد الضباع"، 9-"شرح الدرة" للعلامة الشيخ النويري"، 10-"شرح الدرة" للعلاّمة الشيخ أحمد بن عبد الجواد".
