يتطرق هذا الكتاب إلى واحدة من أهم مكونات الحضارة اليمنية القديمة، وهي "النقوش المسندية المتعلقة بالماء والري، في اليمن القديم، مشيراً إلى أن الحضارة اليمنية القديمة كانت زراعية بالأساس تعتمد على مياه الأمطار.
لذلك فقد طوعت هذه الحضارة الطبيعية، وأقامت السدود والحواجز، وخلدت ذلك في نقوش تتحدث فيها عن منجزاتها ومدى ما قامت به.
مؤكداً أن الماء والريَّ كانا من أهم الموضوعات في الحياة لدى الإنسان اليمني القديم، كما أكدته نقوش متصلة بالبناء والحياة الدينية والحياة الإجتماعية والإدارية والأعمال الحربية.
