إن خدمة السنة النبوية من خير الأعمال الجليلة، التي يقدمها المرء تجاه هذا الدين الحنيف، وخير زاد يدخره الإنسان ليوم الوعيد، لذلك نرى أسلافنا قد أَوْلَو السنة المطهرة عناية عزَّ نظيرها، فنالوا بذلك الشرف الرفيع، كيف لا وشرف خدمة السنة من شرف صاحبها وقائلها عليه أفضل الصلاة والسلام.
وإن من هؤلاء الأعلام الذين وفقهم الله تعالى لنيل هذا الشرف الإمام أبو طاهر المخلص، في هذا الكتاب الذي هو عبارة عن مجموعة مصنفاته.
وقد قام المحقق بخدمة هذه المصنفات فجمع ما تيسر له من أصولها الخطية، وسار في تحقيقها كما يلي:
1 ـ قدم للكتاب بمقدمة شملت ترجمة أبي طاهر المخلص، وتراجم مختصرة لشيوخه، والحديث عن مصنفات أبي طاهر المخلص، والأصول التي اعتمدها في التحقيق، ثم تراجم رواة هذه الأجزاء.
2 ـ المقابلة بين النسخ عند التعدد، وإثبات الفروق في الهامش.
3 ـ اهتم بضبط النص المحقق، وتصحيح التحريفات والتصحيفات.
4 ـ التخريج بالعزو إلى الصحيحين أو أحدهما إن وجد، فإن لم يكن فكتب الحديث المشهورة، متجنباً الإطالة.
ثم ختم عمله بفهارس علمية، معتمداً على الرقم العام لأحاديث المجموع كله.
