إن قراءة هذا الشرح تكشف عن استصحابه عددا كبيرا من المقولات النقدية النظرية , والأنظار النقدية التطبيقية , الأمر الذي يدرجه ضمن أعمال ( النقد الأدبي ) . ولعل أظهر المقولات النقدية التي ألح عليها هذا الشرح هي مقولة الوحدة الموضوعية للقصيدة .
هذا الشرح يصلح أن ينتمي أيضا إلى حقل دراسات ( نقد النقد ) بما تضمنه من تعقب لآراء عدد من الدارسين المعاصرين للشعر القديم .
