إننا نعتقد أن علاقاتنا ستنتهي بيسر وسهولة وبغير ألم طالما أنها نشأت في الظل، لكننا عندما نبدأ في تحسّس القلق الذي ينتج عن هذه العلاقات المنتهية، وتشعر بهذه الغصة المؤلمة التي تحشرج في أرواحنا المخدوعة، وإنعدام الثقة هذا الذي يعقب شعوراً عميقاً بثقة أبدية أُجبرت على أن تنتحي مكاناً قصياً بعيداً عن أعين الخلق بعد أن كانت ممتدّة لتشمل العالم بأسره، وعندما يصبح تقديرنا لذاتنا متقوقعاً على ذاته تائهاً لا يعرف طريقاً يعود من خلاله سيرته الأولى، نشعر إذ ذاك فقط أن هنالك شيئاً مقدساً في القلوب التي تئنُّ من فرط حبها ونكتشف كم هي عميقة جذور العاطفة التي كانت لدينا والتي كنّا نظن إننا نستطيع كتمانها عن العالمين، وإذا ما قيّض لنا التغلّب على ما نسميه (ضعفنا) فلا يكون ذلك إلا بسحق كل ما هو كريم وسخي في ذواتنا، وتمزيق كل ما لدينا من إخلاص، والتضحية بكل ما نملك من نبل وطيبة، وبعد أن يقتل الموت جزءاً من روحنا ونُأخذ بضعفنا على حين غرة، ننحدر بأخلاقنا إلى الدرك الأسفل من الذل والضعة بحجة وجوب إمتلاك القوة والصلابة، ونتحدى الرحمة محتقرين كل ما يمت للتعاطف بصلة، أقول، بعد كل ذلك ننجو لنحيا بهذا النصر بأبهى وأجمل صورة له، نحيى مكلّلين بالعار والخزي من أرواحنا التي تلفت جرّاء هذا النصر الحزين ثم نتعافى منه ونتلقى التهاني والتصفيق والتبريكات من الأصدقاء واللامباليين.
