نظيرة زين الدين كاتبة وسياسية لبنانية مسلمة ولدت سنة 1908 في إسطنبول، زاولت العمل الصحافي، سخرت قلمها للدفاع عن المرأة. تلقب بـ"الست نظيرة" و "المرأة الحديدية" لدفاعها عن حقوق المرأة.
سيرتها الذاتية
تلقت نظيرة تعليمها في مدرسة الناصرة ثم في المدرسة الأمريكية والمدرسة العمانية. تزوجت في سنة 1935 من شفيق الحلبي، ورزقت منه ثلاثة أولاد. والدها سعيد زين الدين من قرية عين قني الشوفية، كان علماً من أعلام القضاء، تقلَّد مناصب قضائية مهمة، ورزق بابنته البكر نظيرة عام 1907.
وفي العام الذي صدر فيه كتابها حصلت على شهادة (البكالوريا الفرنسية الأولى)، ثم تجهّزت للحصول على (البكالوريا الثانية).
لها كتابان هما: *السفور والحجاب* و*الفتاة والشيوخ*.
وفاتها
توفيت في بيروت عام 1976.

تنطلق الكاتبة من مناخات قاتمة كانت تلقي بظلالها على واقع المرأة في نهايات القرن الثامن عشر وأوائل القرن التاسع عشر في محاولة لتغيير هذا الواقع الذي يسيء للمرأة، وبالتالي يضر بالمجتمع، جعلت ذلك ضمن محاضرات وأقسام أربعة. كان القسم الأول بمثابة جولات عامة في الحرية والحق والشرع والدين والعقل، تضمن ذلك الحديث عن حرية الأديان وحرية العلم وإستقلاله، ثم حرية السفور وحرية الحجاب، كما تم بيان ماهو الشرك الأصفر، ثم حرية الدين والعمل في كتاب الله، وأن الحرية هي أساس الحياة الإنسانية الراقية من حيث حرية الفكر وحرية الإرادة. هذا وقد ضمنت الكاتبة محاضراتها في هذا القسم أقوال الأفغاني محمود عبدو الغلاييني وآخرين من المفكرين الإسلاميين والكتاب ممن كان لهم تآليف في هذا المجال أو ذاك مما تناولته الكاتبة. وبالإنتقال نجد أن الكاتبة خصصت القسم الثاني للحديث عن السفور، وتحرير المرأة والتجدد الإجتماعي، وذلك على ضوء أدلة دينية أوردتها الكاتبة. أما القسم الثالث فجاء حول محور القسم الثاني نفسه إلا أنه تم في هذا القسم إيراد ذلك بناء على الأدلة العقلية. وإنتهت الكاتبة في القسم الرابع لإيراد طائفة من المعارضات والردود في جميع المواضيع التي طرحتها المؤلفة في مجموعة محاضراتها بالإجمال.
