الحسين بن الحسن بن محمد بن حليم البخاري الجرجاني، أبو عبد الله: فقيه شافعيّ، قاض.
كان رئيس أهل الحديث في ما وراء النهر. مولده بجرجان ووفاته في بخارى. له (المنهاج - خ) [ثم طُبع] في شعب الإيمان، ثلاثة أجزاء، قال الإسنوي: جمع فيه أحكاما كثيرة ومعاني غريبة لم أظفر بكثير منها في غيره

هذا الكتاب هو عبارة عن اختصار لكتاب المنهاج مع بذل الجهد لاستخلاص المعنى المستقيم منه من غير الاخلال بلبابه, أو تضييع نفائسه, إنما تجاوز الخلافيات والاستطرادات والافتراضات, وكثيراً من الأحكام الجزئيات التي مكانها المناسب كتب الفقه, وحذفت الأدلة كل ما يرقى إلى رتبة الاحتجاج به. ويمكن القول أن هذا الكتاب المختصر هو ثمرة الكتاب الأصل وجمع جواهر ما فيه, من غير أن يجد القارئ عناء في فهمه أو عثرة في الوقوف على المراد منه. ويحتوي الكتاب على: البيان عن حقيقة الإيمان, زيادة الإيمان ونقصانه, الاستثناء في الإيمان وما يصح منه أو لا يصح, ألفاظ الإيمان, إيمان المقلد والمرتاب, فيمن يكون مؤمناً بإيمان غيره أو لا يكون, فيمن لا يصح إيمانه أو لا يصح, فيمن لم تبلغه الدعوة, في شعب الإيمان.
