هذا الكتاب يرشد التاجر المسلم إلى مبادئ الأخلاق التي على المسلم أني تحلى بها، وإلى أهم مسائل الفقه التي لا يسع التاجر أن يكون جاهلاً بها. وتتجلى أهمية مثل هذا الكتاب في وقتنا الراهن الذي صار فيه الناس يطلبون المال ولا يهمهم أي طريق سلكوا في طلبه، ولا أي ثمن بذلوا من أخلاقهم ودينهم في سبيل تحصيله.
ولما كان بعض الناس يقع في الحرام جهلاً من غير قصد، فإن هذا الكتاب يبين لهؤلاء أهم المحرمات التي على التاجر اجتنابها في تجارته حتى لا يدخل على نفسه وأهله المال الحرام، فيكون في شر ووبال، وقد قيل قديماً: ما ينبغي أن يمارس التجارة من لم يتفقه بأحكام المال والبيع والشراء، حتى لا يقع في الحرام عن جهل منه. أما من يمارس الحرام عالماً به، فإن هذا الكتاب تذكرة له وهدى عسى أن يتقي ربه ويتوب، ليقي نفسه عذاباً لن يطيقه في الآخرة، وضيقاً وكرباً في الدنيا.
وليس هدف هذا الكتاب الارتقاء بك أيها التاجر إلى مقام أولئك السلف الصالح، بل الهدف دلالتك في الغالب على أهم الأشياء التي على التاجر المسلم التزامها إذا ما أراد لنفسه أن ينجو من النار، وأن يتقي فتنة المال الذي في يديه. وينبه الكتاب التاجر إلى مسؤوليته في عصر الانحطاط الذي يعيشه المسلمون في هذه الآونة وإلى دوره في النهوض بهذه الأمة.
والكتاب يعكس الواقع، ومسائل الفقه فيه مسائل واقعية تستقرئ واقع الأسواق في هذا العصر، وتختار أيسر الأقوال والمذاهب في بيان الحكم والفتوى مراعاة للمتغيرات الاقتصادية وللظروف الراهنة.
ولا يضم هذا الكتاب كل مسائل الفقه التي قد يحتاجها التاجر المسلم، بل يقتصر على أهمها، لصعوبة الإحاطة بكل تلك المسائل، ولتجددها المستمر. وقد كتب الكتاب بلغة قصد بها التيسير والتسهيل ما أمكن ذلك، ليقرأ ويستفيد التجار على تباين ثقافاتهم ودرجات تحصيلهم.
