هذا الكتاب هو تحقيق لواحد من أهم كتب الهندسة (Geometry) الإسلامية لواحد من أبرز علماء الرياضيات المسلمين وهو أبو الوفاء البوزجاني الحاسب. اعتنى المحقق بمتن الكتاب من خلال جمع النسخ المخطوطة والمقارنة بينها وقام بتصحيح الرسومات الواردة في المتن ومطابقتها مع التوضيحات التي ذكرها البوزجاني. كما احتوى التحقيق على معلومات قيّمة حول عائدية الكتاب وفيه ردّ على العديد من الشبهات الواردة حول صحّة نسبته. تكمن أهمية الكتاب في كونه يحتوي على شروح مبسطة للعديد من التطبيقات الهندسية التي تُسهّل على الصّناع والحرفيين أعمالهم، فالشروح الواردة فيه كانت منطلقات معرفية مهمّة للمعماريين والمزخرفين والفنانين المسلمين في الماضي. وهو وثيقة تاريخية مهمّة للباحثين والمهتمين بمجالات الفنون والحرف وتاريخ العلوم عند المسلمين.
