في هذه الرسالة اللطيفة نسير مع الخط العربي، هذا الحرف المقدس الذي نزل به القرآن الكريم؛ وجعل فيه سر إعجازه وبيانه، فزاد هذا الحرف جمالاً إلى خصوصياته، مما جعل الخطاطين عبر العصور وفي سائر البلاد التي يوجد فيها فنانون وخطاطون يتبارون في رسم حروفه فيطرزونها وينمقونها، ويجعلون من هذا الحرف الصامت حرفاً ينطق بحركة الحيوية، ليعبر عن جماله في تلك الأشكال والحركات التي جعلته يتكلم من غير لسان، وتفوح رائحته العطرة من خلال متابعة الكلمة الواحدة حرفاً حرفاً.
لقد تناول الكاتب في هذه الرسالة المتواضعة رحلة الخط العربي منذ أن كان في أعماق الجزيرة العربية (مسنداً) على القبور والآثار إلى أن أصبح لوحات حديثة في المتاحف ومعارض الخط، وذلك من خلال وجهة نظري ككاتب وباحث لا من وجهة نظر الفنان والخطاط الذي بتابع الحرف والكلمة لدى المبدعين وذوي الإختصاص.
وقد تحدّث العلماء عن فضيلة الخط، وجمالياته، وأسباب إنتشاره أو إنحساره، وتطوره وجموده، وكتبوا في ذلك الكثير، فنحن نرى الأبجدية الإنكليزية تغزو العالم في القرون الثلاثة الأخيرة بسبب الغزو العسكري، بينما نجد الأبجدية العربية تنتشر في العالم منذ خمسة عشر قرناً بسبب نشر الدعوة الإسلامية وتقبّل الشعوب هذه اللغة لأنها لغة القرآن الكريم ولغة الإسلام، ووسيلة التفاهم بين الشعوب الإسلامية.
