من أعظم ما يقوي الإيمان ويجلبه معرفة أسماء الله الحسنى الواردة في الكتاب والسنة والحرص على فهم معانيها، والتعبد لله بها قال تعالى: "ولله الأسماء الحسنى فادعوه بها وذروا الذين يلحدون في اسمه سيجزون ما كانوا يعلمون"، وقد ثبت في الصحيحين من حديث أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال: "إن لله تسعة وتسعين اسماً مائة إلا واحداً من أحصاها دخل الجنة" أي من حفظها، وفهم معانيها ومدوللها، واثنى على الله بها، وسأله بها، واعتقدها دخل الجنة: فالجنة لا يدخلها إلى المؤمنون. فعلم أن ذلك أعظم ينبوع ومادة لحصول الإيمان وقوته وثباته.
ومعرفة أسماء الله الحسنى بمراتبها الثلاث هي من أعظم مقويات الإيمان بل معرفة الله بأسمائه وصفاته هي أصل الإيمان، والإيمان يرجع إلى هذا الأصل العظيم، ولهذا السبب وغيره جمع "عيد القحطاني" ما تيسر الله له من الأسماء الحسنى وذكر اسم دليلاً من الكتاب أو السنة تم عرض لتفسير كل اسم ناقلاً الشرح من المصادر المعتمدة وخاصة لأهل التحقيق من أهل السنة كابن تيمية، وتلميذه ابن القيم، والشيخ العلامة عبد الرحمن بن ناصر السعدي.
قسم هذا البحث إلى خمسة عشر بحثاً حملت العناوين التالية: أسماء الله تعالى توفيقية، أركان الإيمان بالأسماء الحسنى، أقسام ما يوصف به الله تعالى، دلالة الأسماء الحسنى ثلاثة أنواع، حقيقة الإلحاد في أسماء الله تعالى، إحصاء الأسماء الحسنى أصل للعلم، أسماء الله تعالى كلها حسنى، أسماء الله تعالى منها ما يطلق عليه مفرداً أو مقترناً بغيره، ومنها ما لا يطلق عليه بمفرده بل مقروناً بمقابله.
من أسماء الله الحسنى ما يكون دالاً على عدة صفات، الأسماء الحسنة التي ترجع إليها جميع الأسماء والصفات، أسماء الله، وصفاته مختصة به واتفاق الأسماء لا يوجب تماثل المسعيات، المبحث الثاني عشر أمور ينبغي أن تعلم، مراتب إحصاء أسماء الله الحسنة، الأسماء الحسنى لا تحد بعدد، شرح أسماء الله الحسنى بلا تعطيل ولا تكييف ولا تمثيل ولا تشبيه.
