ما يزال عالم الموت وما بعده من بعث ونشور وحساب وجزاء من الأمور التي تشغل اهتمام المسلمين على مر العصور. وما بين دفتي الكتاب أحاديث في ذكر الموت للفقيه الإمام أبي محمد عبد الحق بن عبد الرحمن الأزدي الإشبيلي المعروف في زمانه بابن الخراط، أحد الأعلام ومؤلف الأحكام الكبرى والوسطى والصغرى، ولد سنة عشر وخمسمائة وتوفي سنة اثنتين وثمانين وخمسمائة عن إحدى وسبعين سنة. له مؤلفات عدة ومنها هذا السفر الذي بين أيدينا وفيه أحاديث مروية بالسند المتصل عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم والصحابة والتابعين تنبه الإنسان المسلم وتحفزه للإستعداد إلى عالم الحشر والنشور والثواب والعقاب، والحكمة التي أرادها الله تعالى من ذلك.
هذا وقد اشتملت الأحاديث أبواب عديدة تتمحور حول ما يلي: باب ما يستحب من أحوال الميت عند الموت وفي تلقين الشهادتين، باب في الجنائز وفضل اتباعها، باب ذكر الأرواح أين يذهب بها وما جاء في عذاب الفبر، باب يوم القيامة وأسمائه، باب ذكر النفخ في الصور النفخة الأولى والثانية، باب في انبعاث الناس من قبورهم وصفة الأرض التي يحشرون عليها وكيف يحشرون، باب الموازين والكتب، باب ذكر الصراط ودرجات الناس في المرور عليه، باب ما جاء أن في الجنة سوقاً، باب من صفة النار وصفة أهلها وما أعد الله لهم فيها، باب ذكر الخلود.. الخ.
