لقد أجرت الحوار منى سكرية، وكتبت في هذا الكتاب "سيرة" محمد الحبوبي، الذي حكى لها "وسرد وتذكر وأعاد الذاكرة، ذاكرته الخاصة إلى ما وراء الطفولة والمراهقة والصدمات ...". ستنقل إلينا سكرية في صفحات هذا الكتاب "صورة شاب عربي أضاء بأحلامه سنوات تعب، فأحب وطنه العربي وخانته ظروفه .. وأحب الإنسان أي إنسان يشبه قائمة مسلماته الأخلاقية العنيدة، فوجدهم في لائحة أصدقاء بعثوا فيه ما قبل الرحيل ...".
قدم للكتاب بمقدمة الأستاذ طلال سلمان الذي اعتبر الحبوبي مناضلاً إستثنائياً "جمع في تجربته بين أفكار العروبة من دون أدلجة، وبين الماركسية بالقراءة والسماع، وبين "نجفيته" من دون تعصب لشيعيته، وبين التعاطف مع الأكراد العراقيين، والعمل مع المقاومة الفلسطينية كمتطوع، ومع النخبة الناصرية كمبشر، وعاش بعض حياته في القاهرة وبعضها الآخر في دمشق وبعضها الثالث في بيروت، وبعض البعض في ألمانيا، متابعاً بحثاً عن اليقين ...".
وعليه، يحتوي هذا الكتاب على وقائع الحوار الذي أجرته المؤلفة مع محمد الحبوبي وذلك بتاريخ "بعد ظهر الأربعاء في 26/9/2012، وأكملتها – والكلام للمؤلفة – بامتداد اليوم الثاني من الخميس 27/9، وفي جلسة أخيرة من مساء يوم الأحد 30/9/2012" لتنتهي المحاورة بمذكرات وأحداث ووقائع، وآلام وأحلام، كان الموت هو الجزء الناقص منها ... ، وداعاً أيها الإنسان الشهم الذي أضاف إلى صورة المناضل شيئاً من الكبرياء، وخفف شيئاً من الإدعاء.
