في كتابه هذا، يدرس الدكتور مهدي حارث الغانمي (لغة قريش) لهجةً وأداءً، وفقاً لـ "منهج فقه اللغة القرآني"، فكان أن وجد – أي المؤلف – أن لغة قريش هي الأصل الذي ورث الصورة الأصفى للعربية، وعلى وفق علاقة اللغة بالدين، وأن اللهجات العربية إنما تمثل، في وجوه مغايرتها، انحرافاً عن الأصل، ولكنها، خارج المغايرة، تتفق مع لغة قريش: أي العربية، كما رصد المؤلف السمات "اللهجية" التي نسبها القدماء إلى لغة قريش، وأعاد تقييمها على أساس الواقع اللغوي وصور الأداء القرشي انطلاقاً من مبادىء المنهج المتبع في الدراسة، كما وجد أيضاً "أن السمات اللغوية في لغة أهل قريش، كانت الأكثر اصالة في كونها صورة عن العربية، بل لعلّها العربية ذاتها" وذلك على المستوى الصوتي، وعلى المستوى الصرفي، والمستوى النحوي. أما أهم ما توصلت إليه الدراسة هو أنها أعادت النظر في مفهوم اللغة المشتركة، والأصول التي انبنى عليها هذا المفهوم، والنتائج المترتبة عليه. وتوصلت الدراسة أيضاً بالأدلة العقلية والنقلية إلى أن العربية لم تشهد تغايراً لهجياً فعلياً، وإنما كانت ثمة بوادر انحرافات محدودة لم تشع حتى في مستواها القبلي، وعليه، فالعرب كانوا جميعاً يتكلمون العربية المسماة بالمشتركة، لا في أدبهم ومخاطباتهم، بل في حياتهم المشتركة، وليس ثمّ ازدواج لغويّ بين لهجة القبيلة واللغة المشتركة، بل إن الإنحراف اللهجي كان نادراً وغير مستساغ، وبالتالي فإن لغة قريش حافظت على الأصل. وعلى هذا فإن لغة القرآن قرشية في كل ما جاءت به سمات لغوية وأنماط أسلوبية، وكذلك الأمر في الحديث الشريف، وكلام الأئمة والصحابة من فصحاء قريش وبلغائها في الجاهلية والإسلام، وكذلك الشعر القرشيّ.
