لقد سعى المؤلف في هذا البحث أن يبين أن الثقافة العربية اللسانية لا يمكنها أن تتجدد ما لم يقف العقل على مسافة من نفسه وما لم يتحصل له وعي مغاير بذاته، فيرتد على تراثه وتاريخه من خلال راهنيته بكل شروطها وأبعادها، ويرجع إلى نفسه بعد صيرورته ومغايرته؛ وإذ ذاك تتم مساءلة الأصول وإعادة قراءتها على نحو يؤدي إلى إعادة إكتشافها وبنائها، ولا يعني ذلك أن عملية المغايرة تحصل في العقل بمعزل عن نصه في الأصل، ذلك لأن العقل العربي المسلم إذ ينظر في الأصل ويقرأ النص، إنما يتأمل تراثه وتاريخه؛ ومغايرته لنفسه إنما تعني في الوقت نفسه إعادة إكتشاف للأصل وإعادة بناء للذات، فالتجديد هو حقاً إعادة بناء للذات.
وقد ركز في الشطر الثاني من عمله على النظر النحوي من حيث هو فعالية بنائية وخطابية يعيد بفضلها تنظيم منطق الخطاب النحوي على ضوء الدّراسات التداولية الحديثة، والغرض من هذا هو المساهمة في بناء منهج علمي يسهم بدوره في المناخ الفكري الذي يسعى إلى التفكير في فلسفة اللّغة في ضوء اللسانيات والمنطق وعلم النفس ومعارف أخرى.
وكان الغرب قد توصّل بفضلها إلى نتائج بالغة الأهمية بصدد أثر اللّغة في الثقافة، وأنّ بنية اللُّغة والفكر أمر واحد ومن ثمّ فاللّغة ليست أداة أو وسيلة للتخاطب والتفاهم والتواصل فحسب، وإنّما اللُّغة وسيلتنا للتأثير في العالم وتغيير السُّلوك الإنساني من خلال مواقف؛ وقد اعتمد في عمله هذا منهجية جمع فيها بين النظر والمناظرة، وكلاهما ممارسة متأصلة في تراثنا الإستدلالي منطلقاً من النظر إلى الأصول الفكرية والمراجع المعرفية.
