* ولد الدكتور محمد حسن عبد العزيز بمدينة فاقوس بمحافظة الشرقية عام 1942م .
* وفي مدينة المنصورة استكمل حفظ القرآن الكريم وتجويده ، والتحق بمعهد المنصورة الديني ، ونال منه الشهادة الثانوية عام 1964م .
التحق بكلية دار العلوم ، ونال منها درجة الليسانس في اللغة العربية والعلوم الإسلامية بمرتبة الشرف 1968م ، حصل على درجة الماجستير عام 1975م وعلى درجة الدكتوراه في علم اللغة بمرتبة الشرف الأولى 1978م .
تدرج في هيئة التدريس بكلية دار العلوم جامعة القاهرة حتى نال درجة أستاذ عام 1991م .
* وللدكتور محمد حسن عبد العزيز نشاط ملحوظ في الهيئات العلمية فهو : عضو مجمع اللغة العربية بالقاهرة .
عضو اللجنة العلمية لهيئة المعجم التاريخي للغة العربية باتحاد المجامع العربية .
عضو جميعة تعريب العلوم ، وجمعية حماية اللغة العربية .
* أما نشاطه في التأليف والترجمة والتحقيق فواسع ومتنوع ، وقُدر لمؤلفاته أن تُنشر غير مرة ، وأن تكون مراجع موثقة لكل الباحثين في علم اللغة .
* فمن مؤلفاته : « مدخل إلى علم اللغة » ، « سوسير رائد علم اللغة الحديث » ، « لغة الصحافة المعاصرة » ، « الربط بين الجمل في اللغة العربية المعاصرة » ، « القياس في اللغة العربية » ، « النحت في اللغة العربية » ...
إلخ .
* ومن مترجماته : « العربية الفصحى الحديثة » ، « ستنكيفتش » ، « التراث اللغوي العربي » ، « بوهاس ، وجيوم ، وكولوغلي » ، « المصطلحية والمعجم التقني » ، « ساجر » .
* ومما حققه : الجزء الأول من كتاب : « ما يعول عليه في المضاف والمضاف إليه » للمحبي .
* وراجع جزءًا من : « شرح ديوان رؤبة » ، وجزءًا من : « حواشي ابن بري » .
* وله عشرات من البحوث العلمية نشرها في : مجلة اللسان العربي بالرباط ، ومجلة مجمع اللغة العربية بالأردن ، ومجلة فصول ، ومجلة مجمع اللغة العربية بالقاهرة ، ومجلة كلية دار العلوم .

هذا الكتاب جملة من البحوث اللغوية وتبلغ هذه البحوث أو المذكرات مائة وعشرين وهو قدر مناسب يمكن أن تنبني عليه نتائج علمية ذات أهمية بالغة ولعل هذا هو الذي أغراني بنشرها في هذا الكتاب.
وكنت بين الحين والحين أعود إلي بعضها وأستخرج منها ما دعاني إلى تصفحها وكنت أفكر في جمعها ونشرها وبكل أسف لم أتمكن من ذلك طوال هذه السنين وجادت الظروف هذه الأيام بتحقيق ما فكرت فيه ورجوته.
أما الموضوعات فتعكس مظاهر من تطور اللغة العربية في العصر الحديث وأما منهج المعالجة فهو المنهج الذي اختطه المجمع منذ إنشائه وطوره في أثناء عمره المديد.
