هذا الكتاب يبحث في مسألة فقهية دار الخلاف حولها طويلاً, ليخلص إلى القول بأنها مسألة اجتهادية, وقد أورد المؤلف قول كل مجتهد ودليله في مسألة القراءة خلف الإمام فكان هذا الكتاب رداً مفحماً على من ادعى أن لا دليل للأحناف في هذه المسألة, وغمز ولمز وهمز على الأئمة الأربعة عليهم رضوان الله تعالى. ولما كان العمل بالفقه واجب إلزامي, لأن المجتهد يجب عليه أن يعمل بما أداه إليه اجتهاده وهو بالنسبة إليه حكم الله تعالى, ختم المؤلف رسالته بفصل كامل هو: حرية المسلم في اتخاذ أي مذهب شاء. لأن غير المجتهد عليه أن يعمل بفتوى المجتهد, إذ ليس أمامه طريق آخر لمعرفة الحكم الشرعي سوى الاستفتاء (فاسألوا أهل الذكر إن كنتم لا تعملون) وإنكار الأحكام الثابتة بالاجتهاد المبني على غلبة الظن معصية وفسق وظلم, لأن المجتهد بذل أقصى جهده لمعرفة الحق وبيان حكم الله تعالى, بعيداً عن أي هوى شخصي, أو مأرب نفعي, أو طلب سمعة أو شهرة زائفة, وإنما مستنده الدليل الشرعي, ورائده الحق وشعاره الأمانة والصدق والإخلاص.
