عمر أبو ريشة (10 أبريل 1910 – 14 يوليو 1990) شاعر سوري ولد في منبج في محافظة حلب سوريا، نشأ في بيت يقول أكثر أفراده الشعر، وتلقى تعليمه الابتدائي في مدينة حلب، وأتم دراسته الثانوية في الكلية السورية البروتستانتية (وهي ما أصبحت تعرف لاحقا بالجامعة الأمريكية) في بيروت، ثم أرسله والده إلى إنجلترا عام 1930م، ليدرس الكيمياء الصناعية في جامعة مانشستر.
يعتبر عمر أبو ريشة من كبار شعراء وأدباء العصر الحديث وله مكانة مرموقة في ديوان الشعر العربي وهو الإنسان الشاعر الأديب الدبلوماسي الذي حمل في عقله وقلبه الحب والعاطفة للوطن وللإنسان وللتاريخ السوري والعربي وعبر في اعماله وشعره بأرقى وأبدع الصور والكلمات والمعاني.
ولد عمر أبو ريشة من عائلة تنحدر من الموالي من آل حيار بن مهنا بن عيسى وهم من الفضول نسبة إلى فضل بن ربيعة من طيء وكانت ولادة عمر بن شافع في منبج في محافظة حلب.
أسرته
هو شافع بن الشيخ مصطفى أبو ريشة، وُلِدَ في القرعون على ما يروي عمر. وعلى الرغم أنه أصبح قائم مقام في منبج والخليل، فإنه أمضى سنين طويلة منفياً أو دائم الترحال، وبعد عودته من المنفى أقام في حلب، حيث عمل في الزراعة، ثم ترك الزراعة، وقبل منصب قائم مقام طرابلس. وكان شافع شاعراً مجيداً، فقد كتب عدة قصائد في رثاء شوقي وحافظ وعمر المختار.
والدته هي خيرة الله بنت إبراهيم علي نور الدين اليشرطي، وهي فتاة من عكا، أما أبوها فقد كان شيخ الطريقة الشاذلية. وعنها يقول عمر: «كانت طيَّب الله مثواها مكتبة ثمينة على رجلين، عنها حفظت الأشعار، والقصائد، والمطوّلات». كما يذكرها عمر بالتقدير والثناء، فيقول: «والدتي متصوفة منذ صغرها، أحاطتنا منذ صغرنا بعناية ذكية، وأشاعت حولنا جواً روحانياً، جعلنا لا نقيم وزناً للفوارق المذهبية، تربيتها أمدتني بقوة استطعت بها ولوج دروب الحب. فالضعف يجعل من يبتلي به أضعف من أن يحب». ويتحدث عن جانب مهم منها، هو جانب الصوفية، فيقول: «عالم من الأنوثة زاخر بالحب مضيء بالرقة والحنان. غلبت عليها النزعة الصوفية، تشعر بالألم فتغني بصوتها الرخيم لتبدد الألم. أحبت من الشعراء المتصوفين علي وفا وبحر الصفا وعبد القادر الحمصي وحسن الحكيم». ويضيف: «لقد اتسع حديثها دائماً للحب المحدود والحب المطلق للذات الكبرى، وعلاقة الإنسان بها».
ومما هو جدير بالذكر أن «أم عمر كانت تروي الشعر وبخاصة الشعر الصوفي. وقد عرف عمر التصوف منها، وكذلك أخذ عنها نظرته إلى الدين والحياة والحب، وكذلك مفهومه للتصوف، وكلفه بالجمال، وصداقته للموت».
اشتهر من إخوته وأخواته ظافر وزينب. أما ظافر فله ديوان شعر بعنوان "من نافذة الحب" طُبِعَ عام 1981، وأيضاً له ديوان ثانٍ "لحن المساء"، وأما زينب فكانت شاعرة جيدة، تهافتت كبريات الصحف على نشر قصائدها». أما الأخت الكبرى فاسمها سارة.
