قد تكون الإجابة في سياسويّة المرحلة الراهنة من تاريخنا، أو في ظروفنا الاقتصادية والإجتماعية الدينيّة، أو في الصورة الجيو- سياسيّة الحربيّة للعولمة.
لكن أيّاً تكن الأسباب، تبيِّن المتابعة التاريخيّة التراجعيّة للمبدأ الإسلاميّ الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر أنّ خلاصته الجهاديّة الرّاهنة حصيلة تأويلية جرت على غير المنوال التأويليّ الإسلاميّ القديم الذي استخرج هذا المبدأ من القرآن الكريم والحديث ليصيّره مبدأ أخلاقيّاً وفقهيّاً مرتبطاً بالسريعة، ووظيفة منوطة بالمجتمع والدولة.
ارتبط التأويل الجهادي الرّاهن لمبدأ الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر بلحظة عنيفة من تاريخ الحضارة العربيّة الإسلاميّة، أفقدته أبعاده العقائدية التي طوّرها المعتزلة، والفقهيّة التي أرادها الفقهاء لشروط المأسسة السياسيّة والسلوك الاجتماعيّ، والأخلاقية التي حدسها أخلاقيو الإسلام كمسكويه والتوحيدي والماوردي. بل أدرجته في أتون حرب كونيّة تحوّل فيها عنوان العدوّ بفعل تعريف إصطلاحي مضيّق جديد لعبارة الجاهليّة، إلى كلّ من لم يدخل ضمن المجال الذي تعيّنه لدار الإسلام.
ومن ابن تيميّة المصدر المشترك لكلّ الجهاديّين تقريباً، ولا سيما بكتابيه "الحسية في الإسلام"، و"الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر"، إلى عبد القادر بن عبد العزيز صاحب "رسالة العمدة"، لم يتوقّف التطبيق الجهاديّ لهذا المبدأ على تأويلاته النظريّة الكبرى منذ سيّد قطب وصولاً إلى أبي مصعب السّوري، مروراً بعبد الله عزّام، وإنّما تحوّل هذا الموقف العنيف إلى حالة منفلتة فعلاً محتملاً دون مرجع إحالة معروف في الكثير من الأحيان.
