في مطلع كل عام دراسي، تَصْدُقُ كلية الآداب والفنون في جامعة فيلادلفيا، ما عاهدت جمهور الباحثين والمثقفين عليه، فتصدر أوراق مؤتمر فيلادلفيا الدولي الذي اختُتِمَ في مجلّد أو مجلّدين، وذلك بعد أن تكون قد ميّزت وحكّمت وحرّرت هذه الأوراق وفق الأصول العلمية المتّبعة. ومن نافل الحديث القول بأن مجلّدات المؤتمر قد غدت مرجعًا من مراجع الثقافة العربية المعاصرة، ويعود إليها الباحثون والنقاد والمثقّفون بوصفها سجلاً فكريًا حافلاً بالمواكبة والحِجاج، والمقاربات التطبيقية والواقعية والعقلانية الرصينة.
وقد تفرّدت كلية الآداب والفنون في جامعة فيلادلفيا، من خلال هذا المؤتمر، بالتصدّي لخريطة (التاريخ العربي ومناهج الفكر الحديث)، ماضيًا وحاضرًا ومستقبلاً، وقلّبت إحداثيات هذه الخريطة سياسيًا واقتصاديًا واجتماعيًا وثقافيًا، بجرأة سوف تذكر لها، لأن هذا التفرّد يأتي في ذروة التحوّلات العاصفة في الوطن العربي. ولن نبالغ إذا قلنا إن كثيرًا من أوراق المؤتمر قد حقّقت المطلوب منها، وهو الاضطلاع بمهمّة استشراف القادم، بإيجابياته وسلبياته.
فتحيّة لكل الباحثين الذين أغنوا هذا المؤتمر بفيض أفكارهم، والشكر موصول لكل أعضاء اللجان الذين عملوا ليلاً نهارًا لإنجاح أعماله، راجين أن نكون في جامعة فيلادلفيا، ومن خلال كلية الآداب والفنون ومؤتمرها الدولي، قد اضطلعنا بدورنا الثقافي والتنويري على طريق النهضة العربية الثانية المنشودة".
