واحـدة مـن أهـم مـشـاكـل الـفـكر العـربـي أنـه يـعـانـي مـن ضـغط الآيديولجيا، آيديولوجيا السلطة من جهة والآيديولوجيا الدينية من جهة أخرى، وآيديولوجيا الطبقات المعارضة بكل تمظهراتها وتنوعاتها، وهناك آيديولوجيا المفكرين العرب التي ربما تعبر بتنوعاتها هي أيضا عن تنوعات آيديولوجيا المجتمع العربي بكل فئاته وطبقاته وإن كانت هذه الآيديولوجيا تستخدم مفاهيم الفلسفة التي عادة ما تكون مستنسخة على غرار نموذج سبق من ماضي الفكر (التراث) أو حاضره (الغرب).
نعتقد أن أسئلة الفكر العربي الحديث والمعاصر إنما جاءت للإجابة عن سؤال أيديولوجي محض هو "لماذا تقدم الغرب وتأخر العرب؟" وكأننا جعلنا من الآخر علة التخلف، أو كأن نهضتنا وتقدمنا مرتبط بتأخر الغرب، والعكس صحيح، أن تقدم الغرب مرتبط بتأخرنا، وفي كل هذا وذاك وإن تسلح مفكرونا العرب النهضويين بعدة وسلاح مستعارين من الفلسفة، إلا أننا نعتقد أن طرح سؤال النهضة والجواب عليه لم يستطع التخلص من هيمنة الآيدولوجيا.
علما أن السعي إلى تحقيق هذه النهضة لا يتم إلا بالتشكيك بمعارفنا السابقة، ذلك المنهج الذي إختطه ديكارت ليس لرفض المعارف السابقة وإنما لفحص مدى قدرتها على البقاء والتحقق من صلاحيتها في ضوء تحولات العصر.
