الموت بحر موجه طافح يغرق فيه الرجل السائح ما ينفع الإنسان في قبره إلا التقى والعمل الصالح لقد اهتم القرآن الكريم بمسألة الموت، باعتبارها أساساً أصيلاً في الدين، يتعلق بالإيمان باليوم الآخر، فالإنسان مهما طالت به الحياة الدنيا فلا بد له من نهاية، لينطلق إلى عمره الخالد في الآخرة.
والقبر هو نهاية المطاف في هذه الحياة الدنيا، وهو مسكن الإنسان إلى أن يقوم الناس لرب العالمين، وهو أول منازل الآخرة، وهو إما روضة من رياض الجنة، وإما حفرة من حفر النار.
وقد قام الإمام السيوطي رحمه الله تعالى بنظم مسائل أحوال وأهوال القبر، وما فيه من فتن ومحن، ثم جاء الشيخ أحمد بن خليل السبكي من بعده، فشرح هذه المنظومة شرحاً لطيفاً، لم يخرج به عن مقصد الكتاب، فجمع فيه فأوعى، ولمَّ شتات المسألة، وضم ما تفرق في بطون الكتب، فقد جمع في شرحه هذا معظم ما قيل في مجال الموت وعذاب القبر، واستشهد بالآيات والأحاديث النبوية، والأخبار والآثار بما لا يدع للشك مجالاً في أن عالم البرزخ شديد.
