سعى المؤلف في هذا الكتاب إلى محاولة تقديم قراءةٍ فلسفيّةٍ وفكريّةٍ ونقديّةٍ منفتحةٍ لإشكاليّة الهُويّة في علاقاتها باللّسان العربي، انطلاقاً من فرضيّةٍ أساسيّةٍ سعى إلى الدفاع عنها، تذهب إلى التأكيد على العلاقة الجدليّة والوثيقة الموجودة ما بين اللّسان والأمّة في سياق الهُويّة الحضارية والثقافية العربيّة والإسلاميّة المتعدِّدة الأبعاد والمختلفة المشارب والمرجعيّات. وقد حاول أن يشير إلى أنّ المشاكل والصّعوبات الكأداء التي تعترض مسار التنمية والتّحديث في الوطن العربي، ناجمةٌ في أغلبها عن سوء فَهم للدّور الذي يمكن أن تلعبه قضايا اللّسان واللّغة في مواجهة التحدِّيات التي تواجه عمليّة بناء وتطوير المجتمعات العربيّة، لأنّ الإبداع الحقيقيّ يتمُّ من خلال اللّغة وبداخلها من منطلق ما ذهب إليه الفيلسوف الفرنسي كوندياك من أنّ إبداع علمٍ جديدٍ ما هو في حقيقة الأمر سوى إبداع للغةٍ جديدةٍ؛ وتحديداً عندما يتمّ النظر إلى اللّغة من منظورٍ شاملٍ، يتجاوز حدود السّياقات التواصليّة والتداوليّة ليتمَّ التعامل معها كنَسَقٍ متكاملٍ يرمز إلة هُويّةِ وثقافةِ الأُمم والشّعوب.
ويمكننا القول في سياقٍ متّصلٍ، إنَّ المقاربة النظريّة لوضعيّات اللّسان العربي تجعلنا نصل إلى صياغة ما يمكن تسميته بفلسفةٍ خاصةٍ باللّغة العربيّة، لأن العلاقات التفاعليّة التي تربط اللّسان العربي بمحيطه في مختلف المجالات، تجعل من الصَّعب فَهم الظاهرة اللّسانيّة في الوطن العربي من دون اعتماد رؤيةٍ تركيبيّةٍ شاملةٍ يمكنها أن توصلنا في نهاية المطاف إلى بلورة فلسفة لغةٍ عربيةٍ قادرةٍ على احتواء هذا التعدُّد والتنوُّع الهائل الذي يميِّز الواقع اللغويّ العربي، تنوّعٍ يمثّل – من دون أدنى ريب – شكلاً من أشكال الاستثناء الحضاريّ الذي يميِّز المشهد اللّساني العالمي المُعاصر.
