الهدف من هذه الدراسة هو محاولة الاقتراب من مبادئ تساعد على الوصول إلى صيغ ذات فائدة عملية، وتؤسس إلى أبعد حد ممكن، عملية الإبداع في كتابة جديدة في مجال السرد الدرامي التلفزيوني، وذلك يساعد في الوصول غلى سوية في الإنتاج العربي تضعه في مصاف الإنتاج العالمي. فليس من الطبيعي أن تمتلئ شاشات التلفزيونات والمحطات الفضائية العربية بالمسلسلات الدرامية المختلفة من أميركا وأوروبا... ويستطيع جمهور التلفزيونات العالمية أيا من إنتاجنا تتألف هذه الدراسة من ثلاثة فصول، يتناول الأول بنية المسلسل الدرامي في بعض الدول التي جرت فيها تغيرات ملموسة تناولتها الأبحاث بالدراسة والتمحيص ووضعتها في متناول أهل الاختصاص، ليتمكنوا من الاستمرار في عملية التغيير الواعي حتى دعت الحاجة إلى ذلك، ويتناول الفصل الثاني التجربة الدرامية العربية التي شكلت معالمها وعناصرها السردية في بنية درامية لم تتناولها دراسة عميقة بالبحث اللازم، وذلك سيساعد في تغيير هذه البنية السائدة ويضع مسألة إمكانية تجاوزها وتخطيها موضع الممارسة الإبداعية بشكل واع ومقتدر. ويضم الفصل الثالث بعض الدراسات التي يمكن أن ترفد نظرياً موضوع الدراسة.
