إنّ ثمّة حقائق تتكشّف في ديوان "قهوة مرّة" والتي تسعى أمينة العدوان من خلال قصائدها تجسيد الواقع العربي في ظل المتغيّرات واختلاط المفاهيم والغزو الفكري للهوية العربية وقيم العولمة التي تضرب في عمق الشخصية العربية لطمس هويتها وتشويه ملامحها وعزلها عن قضاياها القومية والفكرية لتعيش قيم السطحية واللامبالاة والاستهلاكية بدلاً من الإفادة من مقوّمات الحضارة الجديدة لبناء المسيرة الوطنية. وتؤكّد الشاعرة على ضرورة الإبقاء على الثوابت الوطنية والأخلاقية والدينية حتّى لا تفتقد الهويّة من الشخصية العربية التي تمثّل خصوصية الوطن وبفقدان الهوية تفقد الشخصيات ملامحها ومعالمها الأصيلة.
وبكلماتها النابضة بقوّة تصوّر الشاعرة المعاناة والألم التي يعيشها الشعب الفلسطيني الذي افتقد الحريّة والأمن من سياسات العدو المتمثّلة في القتل والتدمير والتهجير ، وجسّدت مشاعر الإنسان العربي تجاه المواقف القومية والوطنية الذي اكتفى بالمشاهدة والهروب من الواقع لقناعاته المضلّلة بعدم قدرته على المواجهة وتحوّلت مشاعره إلى كتلٍ صامتة في مناخٍ محتقن بالسياسات المعادية لقوميته ووطنه وهويته.
