"...إذا كان الأدب لا "يفكّر" كما تفكّر الفلسفة، ولا يحتمل وجود أفكار فلسفية جاهزة تضاف إليه وتُنتزَع منه، لأنها تكون بمثابة خلايا ميتة في جسد حيّ، وإذا لم يكن فناً لغوياً صرفاً ولا شكلاً خالياً من مضمون، فإنّ الأدب وهو يُنتج أشكالاً وصوراً وأنماطاً تعبيرية وصفية وسردية وحوارية، يُنتج في الآن ذاته "أفكاراً" ويطلق "رسائل"، ولكنها ليست أفكاراً مجردة كما هي المفاهيم الفلسفية، وليست رسائل مباشرة، كما هي الرسائل في التوجيهات الأخلاقية والمبادىء التعليمية، وكونها كذلك لا ينتقص من قيمتها كتجارب فكرية، بل يُكسبها صفة خاصة ويمنحها بُعداً آخر. إنها نسيج ضمن نسيج متشابك الخيوط كثير التشعب، متعدّد الألوان، على الباحث أن يُحسن تمييزها وملاحقة تعرجاتها والتفافاتها من دون أن ينقلها إلى نطاق آخر، ومن دون أن يجردها من طبيعتها الأدبية..."
