السان سيمونيون جماعة من الشباب، مهندسون من مدرسة الهندسة العليا وأطباء فى معظمهم، تجمعوا حول أسم سان سيمون وأفكاره، لأنهم قد أصابهم ما كان يسميه الكتاب الرومانسيون "وجع القرن" أو السخط. لم يعودوا يحتملون أن يبقى الشعب فى البؤس بينما هم يعرفون، لأنهم درسوا الآلات، أن هناك وسائل حديثة للإنتاج بكميات كبيرة، وكانوا يختنفون فى ظل أخلاق العصر الصارمة، وأنفانتان الذى أصبح رئيسهم المعروف، قال إنهم "رومانسيو السياسة" تجمعوا إذن وشكلوا حزباً صغيراً، أول حزب "إشتراكى" فى القرن التاسع عشر. أن يكون المرء "سان سيمونى" عام 1830 يعنى أنه يريد التصنيع والتسليف والسكك الحديدية والرفاهية وتعليم الشعب فى آن، وأخيراً وليس آخراً، المساواة للنساء. ويمتد هذا المجال الإقتصادى حتى إلغاء الملكية الخاصة لأدوات الإنتاج، وفى المجال الأخلاقى إلى الإستقلال التام للمرأة، وكل هذا أنتهى - كما يمكن أن نتوقع - بالسجن منذ عام 1832.
