"طقوس الإثم" رواية ترصد وقائع أيام المحنة في بغداد أثناء حرب التغيير عام 2003م، والتي اجتاحت فيها القوات الأميركية أراضي العراق ونشرت فيها الهلع والفوضى والخراب، تتحدث الرواية من خلال فصولها عن هواجس الإنسان في ظل الظروف القاتمة والصراع الاجتماعي والتناقضات التي حدثت؛ من خلال شخصيات متخيَّلة رسمها المؤلف لتعبِّر عن أنماط مختلفة من المجتمع، ولتعبِّر عن طبيعة الحدث وتطوراته وتأثيراته السلبية على مسار الفرد، والقطع المفاجئ الذي حصل في حياته.
انطلقت الرواية من مشاهدات شخصية، وتدوين يوميات رصدتها عيون شهدت الحدث وعاشت تفصيلاته وتبيَّنت حيرته، فكانت اللغة التي اعتمدها المؤلف؛ مكثّفة صافية، تحلِّق أحيانًا في فضاءات الشعر للتعبير عن هواجس الإنسان السامية، كما أن الرواية حملت في خاتمتها عددًا من القصائد – الشهادات التي تمثِّل واقع الحدث بالتماس تعبيريّ جنَّحته اللغة الشعرية فحلَّق في أفق المعنى.
تمزج الرواية في نسيجها البنائي بين السيرة الذاتية والغرائبية المستندة على أرض الواقع، واحتشاد الأحداث والشخصيات في فترة حساسة وقلقة ومحيِّرة من تاريخ العراق المكتظ بالحروب والدماء والأزمات وأحزان الفقدان والهلع وفصول المعاناة، تلك التي أفرزت ما أسماه المؤلف وجعله عنوانًا لروايته "طقوس الإثم" تلك الطقوس التي تجسَّدت من خلال الحركة السريعة للأحداث ودور أراد المجتمع فيها، كلٌّ حسب مكانه وقناعته ومديات وعيه وثقافته، فجاءت الممارسات المرصودة متنوعة مختلفة صنعت جوًّا قريبًا للرصد السينمائي المشهدي في السرد.
