"إنها قصة حب لإنسان رومانسي حالم ممتلىء بالأدب شعراً ورواية في عالم لا يأبه كثيراً لهذه الأمور ويضغط على هذا الإنسان ليتخلى عن أحلامه. فعل ذلك كثيرون وصمد قلائل، منهم بطل الرواية عبد الرحمن أودحيم كما كان يناديه والده. هي قصة الذكريات التي تسحقها عجلات الحياة الحديثة السريعة المتجلية في مظاهر مادية شديدة الفخامة من ناحية وشديدة الخواء بالنسبة إلى بطل الرواية".
تبدأ الرواية بحنين رومانسي إلى عالم هرب منه البطل ليعود ويتذكره بحرقة. إنه عالم يتخذ شكل مدينة الطائف السعودية، التي غادرها عبد الرحمن إلى مدينة الرياض وفي داخله حنين يبحث عن حب طفولته "نور"، ثم ما يلبث هذا الحنين أن يجد له طريقاً إلى الجدة الراحلة التي يخاطبها في بداية العمل"... تعرفين أنني غادرت الطائف بحثاً عن وهم .. ولكونك تحبينني .. رضخ الجميع لرغبتي ..." إنه حنين البطل الذي لم يعد يعرف موطنه الفعلي ويجده في أي مكان، حيث تكون الحبيبة.
"طائف الأنس"، هي رواية البحث عن الذات، وعن الوطن، وعن الحلم، في عالم محكم الأقفال، لا يبقى فيه للإنسان سوى الذكريات.
