في عام 1994 نشرت دار شرقيات من ترجمة أحمد حسان كتاب جي ديبور بعنوان "مجتمع الفرجة" وفرضت مجموعة من الظروف الخارجة عن إرادة المجتمع، وأهمها نقص المواد المتعلقة بالموضوع، ومنذ ذلك الحين ألقي على القراء عبء استيعاب كتاب صعب دون تصور السياق الذي أنتجه، والكتاب الحالي استدراك لهذا الخطأ واعتذار عملي للقارئ. فهو بمثابة تقديم ضاف وشامل، ليس لكتاب ديبور فحسب بل لكل قراءة في المواقفية وما يتلوها من كتابات ما بعد الحداثة، فهو يحدد وضعية هذا التيار الفكري الذي يتطلب التحقق العملي في علاقته بحركات الطليعة الهامة السابقة عليه، وأبرزها الدادائية والسوريالية، وكذلك في علاقته بالتطورات اللاحقة حتى الآن. وبذلك يمثل هذا الكتاب خريطة شاملة تقريباً لأهم اتجاهات التمرد خلال القرن العشرين وتفاعلها وجدلها المحتدم الذي يؤكد على استمرار المقاومة لنسق الاستلاب القائم والوعي المتصل والمتزايد باستحالة استمراره.
