تخصص البروفسور الريحاني في الآداب المقارنة، وتبوأ مناصب جامعية عدة آخرها في لبنان منصب نائب رئيس جامعة سيدة اللويزة للشؤون الأكاديمية.
من مؤلفاته الإنكليزية: التعددية الثقافية والأدب العربي الأميركي، دراسة تأسيسية، (2007) Multiculturalism and Arab-American Literature ومن أعماله العربية: قطار ولا محطّة، حوارية ثلاثية الصوت حول مسألة الزمن (2006)؛ عشبة المدائن، إيقاعات بين مَواطن الشمس ورذاذ المطر، (2002)؛ الينابيع المنسية، أو محاولة استكمال للصورة الأدبية، (2000)، طقوس الماء، رسائل موجعة إلى سيرين (1999)، أقاليم النفْس المتمادية، في نقد الأدب والثقافة (1996).
حصد الريحاني على عدة جوائز، منها جائزة سعاد الصباح الأدبية التي تمنحها جمعية خريجي الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت.
ومن الجمعيات الدولية التي ضمّته إلى عضويتها: الجمعية الدولية للإداريين الجامعيين، جمعية الدراسات الشرق أوسطية، المؤسسة الدولية لتطوير المناهج الجامعية، الجمعية الأميركية في الولايات الوسطى للاعتماد الجامعي، وجمعية تقدّم التعليم العالي حول العالم.
وقد حاضر أمين ألبرت الريحاني في عدد من الجامعات الأميركية ومنها: جامعة يال Yale، جامعة ماريلاند، والجامعة الأميركية في واشنطن.
