بين دفتي هذا الكتيب بحث دوّنه الدكتور "طلعت محمد عفيفي" ليتحدث فيه عن مشكلة تمزق وحدة الصف الإسلامي، والفرقة بين المسلمين في أرجاء الأرض، وفي تناول هذا الموضوع من قبل المؤلف في هذه الآونة بالذات أهمية تبدو فيما يلي: 1-أن في معالجة داء الفرقة بين المسلمين في أرجاء الأرض ما يجعل لهم قوة وتأثيراً، إذ بالوحدة يتحقق التكامل بين شتى الأقطار الإسلامية، علمياً واقتصادياً وسياسياً وعسكرياً واجتماعياً. 2-أن العصر الحالي يشهد صحوة إسلامية عالمية، يعترف بها القاصي والداني، ويحاول أعداء الإسلام أن يخترقوا هذه الصحوة من داخلها بإشاعة الفرقة والانقسام بين صفوفها، وفي معالجة هذا الأمر لدى أبناء الصحوة الإسلامية ما يفوت على أعدائهم فرصة الفتك بهم، والقضاء عليهم.
هذا وقد قسّم المؤلف بحثه إلى: مقدمة وثلاثة فصول، وخاتمة. أما المقدمة فقد اشتملت على بيان الآثار السلبية للفرقة، وموقف الإسلام منها، وأسباب وقوعها، ومظاهرها في حياة العامة والمتدينين وغير ذلك مما له علاقة وثيقة بموضوع الفرقة. وأما الخاتمة فقد اشتملت على نتائج البحث والتوصيات فيه.
