إن نظرية الإمام الصدر حول مفهوم (الدولة) قرآنياً، تعد النظرية الأولى والرائدة على صعيد الفكر السياسي الإسلامي المعاصر بشقيه الشيعي والسُني برأي المؤلف؛ وريادتها في هذا المجال جاءت من كونها حاولت إن توفق بين هذين الشقين، فهي ذهبت في، آن واحد، إلى المزاوجة بين ولاية الفقيه والشورى كفلسفة حكم لمفهوم الدولة.
وتتجلى أهمية هذا البحث المتواضع من كون دراسة الفكر السياسي للإمام الصدر وعماده الدولة لديه يأتي كمقدمة لفهم التصورات والرؤى الحزبية الإسلامية المتواجدة على الساحة السياسية العراقية الراهنة كون هذه الكيانات (أحزاب، حركات،...) ترى أنها تستند في رؤيتها وتصورها للدولة على التصور السياسي للإمام الصدر.
وتأتي هذه الدراسة المتواضعة لدراسة وتحليل الفقه السياسي الإسلامي الذي تطلقه الحوزات والمدارس الدينية الإسلامية من الجامعات الأكاديمية العراقية وسباقتها في ذلك كلية العلوم السياسية - جامعة بغداد، ولأهمية هذا العمل اعتمد هذا البحث المتواضع على ثلاث مناهج أساسية للتثبت من صحة الفرضية، والمناهج هي: المنهج التاريخي والمنهج المقارن والمنهج التحليلي.
أما هيكلية البحث؛ فإن الفرضية التي استند عليها البحث استوجبت تقسيم هذا البحث إلى أربعة فصول، وهي كالتالي: الفصل الأول: وهو عن (السيرة الذاتية والسياسية للإمام الصدر)، أمّا الفصل الثاني من هذه الدراسة فقد بحث عن (نشأة الدولة وشرعيتها وضرورتها في فكر الإمام الصدر)، أمّا الفصل الثالث فقد تطرق فيه المؤلف إلى (وظيفة الدولة في فكر الإمام الصدر)، كما عالج الفصل الرابع (النظرية السياسية للدولة في فكر الإمام الصدر)، وأخيراً فقد تم ختم هذه الأطروحة ببعض الإستنتاجات.
