"معجم الصواب والخطأ في اللغة العربية" كتاب أراده المؤلف دفاعاً عن اللغة العربية بوجه أولئك الذين يترقبون اضمحلال لغة القرآن الكريم لتصبح أثراً بعد عين. فما زلنا نشهد هذه الحرب الضروس التي يشنها هؤلاء على اللغة العربية بوصفها لغة القرآن، بدعوى المعاصرة تارة، واللغة المحلية المحكية أخرى. وهذه النشرات الأخبارية واكبت محاربة اللغة العربية من خلال الإقلاع عن النطق بالفصحى واستخدام اللغة المحلية المحكية. ومضافاً إلى الدفاع عن اللغة العربية، فإننا أردنا أن يكون كتابنا هذا مسبلاً للمنفعة العامة سيما للسان العربي بنحو مخصوص.
وهذا الكتاب الذي جاء تحت عنوان "معجم الصواب والخطأ في اللغة العربية" هو كتاب يعني بتمييز الأخطاء الشائعة عن غيرها، وهو يعني أيضاً بتصحيح أخطاء المنشئين الذين يصبون المعاني في قوالب لفظية غير مناسبة.
ولقد رتب هذا المعجم على طبق حروف "أبتث" الأبجدية" وجعل له عدة ملاحق تشتمل على فوائد من الإملاء، والنحو، والشعر والعروض، والبلاغة، والأمثال وذلك بغية تعميم الفائدة، والرجوع إليها فيما لو حصل أي التباس في مفردات المعجم.
