هذا الكتاب "وادي التيم الشعب والثقافة" هو الأصل أطروحة جامعية نال بها المؤلف د. فارس يوسف الدكتوراه اللبنانية عام 2001 وقد جاءت بعنوان "مكوّنات الثقافة الشعبية في وادي التيم". ويرى المؤلف أن هذا الكتاب هو بمثابة بحث في القرية الزراعية الرعوية، وكيفية انتقالها الى السوق التاسع حيث حرص المؤلف على الإحاطة بمجتمع القرية في كافة جوانبه الإنتاجية، والإيديولوجية، والسياسية.
وللإحاطة بالموضوع تألف الكتاب من جزءين، تضمن الأول منه موقع وواقع وادي التيم والطبيعة الجبلية فيه، وبخاصة جبل حرمون، أو جبل الشيخ، وما يحتويه من آثار تاريخية. ومن الجانب التاريخي قام الكاتب بكتابة موجز تاريخي لبعض الدول والشعوب التي قامت على أرض الوادي، مثل الكنعانيين والأموريين والأراميين، والفينيقيين، والأشوريين. وفي الجزء الثاني من الكتاب، سلّط الكاتب الضوء على موضوع القرامطة والحركات الباطنية، وما اصاب وادي التيم منها، خاصة في معركة وادي القرن بين القرامطة والعباسيين. وعن دعوة التوحيد في وادي التيم، تكلم الكاتب على الولاة والدعاة الذين انطلقوا منه، كمولاي الشريف بهاء الدين، والداعي عمّار والأمير معضاد ... وغيرهم، ثم المعارك التي حصلت على ارضه لأجل هذا الأمر، كمذبحة عيحا ودور الجنادلة فيها.
وعلى هامش دعوة التوحيد، تكلم على الحروب التي طاولت وادي التيم "كالحروب الصليبية، المغول في وادي التيم، الشهابيين أمراء وادي التيم، والمغول ومعركتي عين جالوت وسهل عيحا ...".
هذا، وقد خصص المؤلف فصلاً كتب فيه عن العادات – في مجالات عديدة كمجال الزراعة والتراث والعلاقات العامة بين ابنائه، وفي مفاهيم وقيم تميّز بها وادي التيم، كاحترام الصغير للكبير والشهامة والوفاء والكرم وحسن الضيافة ... الخ.
