"هدف! كانا جالسيسن في صالة الشقة، والزوج قد أمسك بجهاز التحكم وبدأ يقلب القنوات.. وكانت الزوجة ترسل الرسائل الهاتفية وتقول في سرها: الله يلعنهم.. كانت منذ صباح اليوم وهي تتابع الأخبار في الجزيرة والتغطية المستمرة للحرب، وكان يفجعها كل ذلك الدم، وكل ذلك الموت، وكل ذلك الصمت!... كانت تتألم وتفكر في طفليها الصغيرين: ماذا لو كانا الآن هناك؟ رأتهما يلعبان مع بعضهما البعض، يضحكان، يعبثان بكل شيء تصل إليه ايديهما، حتى مكتبة والدهما، كانا يشكلان فريقاً جميلاً، فابتسمت، وطردت الفكرة الشريرة من رأسها.. لكنها أطرقت برأسها مجدداً، وعاودتها الفكرة إياها: لو أنهما هناك، هل سينجوان؟ رأتهما مجدداً يواصلان لهوهما، وكلامهما غير المفهوم يتطاير إلى أذنها.. وتذكرت أعماق أذنها الأخرى صراخاً بعيداً وصافرات، وأنيناً مكتوماً، وحرقة نظرت تجاه زوجها، وقالت: هل سنتبرع؟
ولم يرفع رأسه، كان قد استقر على قناة وبدأ يتابع المباراة الحامية الوطيس، والتي كان اللاعب الخصم فيها يقترب من المرمى، فارتفع صوته: ردها.. ردها يا حارس!!
