شاعر ومترجم مصري، مواليد القاهرة العام 1955.
خريج إعلام جامعة القاهرة، قسم صحافة العام 1978.
من جيل السبعينات الشعريّ، أسس مع رفاقه الشعراء سلسلة "أصوات" الشعرية، ومجلة "الكتابة السوداء".
كما أنشأ سلسلة "آفاق الترجمة" بالهيئة العامة لقصور الثقافة وعمل مديرًا لها.
وأنشأ سلسلة "نقوش" للفن التشكيلي مع الفنان "عمر جهان" بهيئة قصور الثقافة وعمل مديرًا لها.
كما عمل مديرًا تنفيذيًا في "المشروع القومي للترجمة" بالمجلس الأعلى للثقافة.
تُنشر أشعاره وترجماته وماقالاته بمعظم الصحف والمجلات والدوريات المصرية والعربية.
كما تُرجمت أشعاره إلى أكثر لغة.
يُدعى إلى مهرجانات الشعر العربية والدولية.
وأعماله، دواوين وترجمات، منشورة في شتى دور النشر العربية.
- من دواوينه: فحم التماثيل، الملاك الأحمر، خضراء الله، السندباد الكافر، عيد النسّاج.
- من ترجماته الشعرية: قصائد حب "آن سكستون"، نهايات "ديريك والكوت"، الهايكو ورحلة حج بوذية يابانية، ديوان الشعر السويدي، جمهورية الوعي "مختارات شعرية"، النمر الآخر "أشعار بورخيس".
- من ترجماته الروائية: جاز "توتي موريسون"، فالس الوداع "كونديرا"، فنانة الجسد "دون ديليلو"، جوستين "الماركيز دو ساد"، بنت مولانا "مورل مفروي"، جنوب الحدود غرب الشمس "هاروكي موراكامي".
- من ترجماته النقدية: الخلاص بالحرية، الضوء المشرقي، نبوءات "دافنشي"، مقدمة لقصيدة النثر، دورة ما بعد الحداثة "إيهاب حسن".
